Proud Pearson Hails Players
City's 1-0 win at Doncaster Rovers tonight lifted them up to fifth in the Championship, strengthening their position in the play-off frame and manager Nigel Pearson had a quiet air of satisfaction afterwards.
He said: "It was good to get a win in one of our games in hand and it was a good win for us. I thought we started the game very well. Second half they had a lot more possession, created a couple of half-chances themselves but didn't carve out any real openings.
"Generally speaking I thought we were well worth the win. Relatively speaking, we felt comfortable. I thought the players worked very hard tonight and played with a lot of commitment for which I am pleased."
That makes for a run of seven league games unbeaten and Pearson added: "We have been there or thereabouts all season and have acquitted ourselves very well. The fact that we have been in and around the play-offs all season suggests we have not done too bad."
